Learning more about Aviation Obstruction Light

Aviation Obstruction Light is also known as Aircraft Warning Light is a kind of navigation light equipment to mark the obstacles of special lamps and lanterns, belonging to the navigation light equipment industry, aviation obstacle light is its seat under the light species range. In order to have a difference with the general purpose lighting, aviation obstacle light is not always on but flashing, low light intensity aviation obstacle light is always on, medium light intensity aviation obstacle light and high light intensity aviation obstacle light is flashing, flashing frequency is not less than 20 times per minute, not higher than 60 times per minute. The role of aviation obstacle lights is to show the outline of the structure, so that the aircraft operator can judge the height and outline of the obstacle, play a warning role.

Aviation obstacle lights classification and naming

According to the aviation obstacle light specification "MH/T6012-2015", FAA, ICAO Annex 14, mainly divided into low light intensity, medium light intensity, high light intensity aviation obstacle light, in addition to the light intensity can be subdivided into.

A type low light intensity (10cd), red light, only night light.

B-type low light intensity (32.5cd), red light, only the night light.

Type C low light intensity (40cd), yellow or blue light, dusk dawn and night light.

Type D low light intensity (200cd), blue light, dusk and dawn and night light.

Type A medium light intensity (daytime: 20,000cd; nighttime: 2,000cd), white light, bright day and night. 20-60FPM

Type B medium light intensity (night: 2000cd), red light, glowing only at night. 20-60FPM

Type C medium light intensity (nighttime: 2000cd), red light, only glowing at night. Constant light

Type A high light intensity (daytime: 200000cd; dusk dawn: 20000cd; nighttime: 2000cd), white light, bright day and night.

Type B high light intensity (daytime: 100000cd; dusk and dawn: 20000cd; night: 2000cd), white light, bright day and night.

Can also be classified according to the installation height of the obstacle, as follows.

1. When the height of the obstacle is less than 45 meters, you need to use low light intensity aviation obstacle lights.

2. When the obstacle is higher than 45 meters less than 105 meters, the use of light intensity B-type aviation obstacle lights.

3. When the obstacle is higher than 105 less than 150 meters, the use of light intensity A type aviation obstacle lights.

4. When the obstacle is greater than 150 meters, the use of high light intensity aviation obstacle lights.

Note: In addition aviation obstacle has AC220V power supply and solar power supply two ways, if the installation scene (for example: the tower) is not convenient wiring, then you can use solar power supply way of aviation obstacle lights.
